Refits require a particularly high degree of flexibility and experience. A team that works smoothly together with short communication channels and on-the-spot workshops, enable us to react swiftly and provide complete service from one source.
Peters Werft offer a 24-hour-service for all kinds of overhauling or repair jobs. Our service team is familiar with all the latest class regulations and relevant requirements.
Moreover, we are competent contractors for refits or technical and interior conversions, specializing in converting smaller cruise tonnage or tugs into private or commercial motor yachts.
In the 150-year history of Peters Werft over 690 new buildings have been built. In the past few years alone, various container-, multi-purpose vessels, passenger ships and mega-yachts have been built. The facilities at our shipyard make it possible to build ships up to a length of 138 meters and a width of 22 meters.

The special purpose ships built in Wewelsfleth have made a name for themselves on an international scale with their perfected and innovative designs, their top-quality workmanship as well as with their environmentally friendly drives. We support our clients in their business methods through innovative concepts and solutions. For example, we integrate a diesel-electric drive unit (Pod drive) to reduce fuel consumption. Furthermore, we develop together, or with partners, special and energy saving run of vessels.
Numerous conversions for the most different types of ships.
Peters Werft can look back over numerous conversions of yachts, vessels and suction dredgers. For example, the former research ship “Solea” was converted for private use in 2004 over a 14-month period and the conversion of the dredger “Josef Möbius” led to an increase in loading capacity.
Changes in market demand and increases in competition require more than ever that vessels have to be converted. This means that the cost-effectiveness of a vessel is preserved or even increased. The value of a ship is enhanced, and its versatility improved. A conversion can therefore be the ideal solution for new use. Here too, we offer you a comprehensive service - from the first consultation to its completion.

Flexible and individual service.
On the intersection point of the international Elbe and Kiel Canal shipping lanes, we can offer you ideal options for repairing ships up to a width of 22 meters. Coordination and individual supervision of the ship’s repairs are as self-evident to us as is processing contracts on schedule. Special repairs require a high degree of flexibility.
Thanks to our own workshops, a well-coordinated team and short communication channels, we are able to react quickly and offer everything from a single source.
Our mobile repair service offers a special service. If the scope of work allows, then our qualified personnel will come on board and carry out the work on site.
With the restoration of the historic Tall Ship Fourmasted Bark “PEKING” from 2017 – 2020 we successfully mastered the challenge and converted the sailing ship into a stationary museum ship, to become the main attraction of the German Harbor Museum in Hamburg. The delivery in September 2020 to her home port of Hamburg was accompanied by numerous interested people. The comprehensive know-how of our team together with their innovative ideas perform an important role in such complex conversions.
Expertise from the very first idea.
We have our own areas of expertise when it comes to development and coordination of our client’s projects. Our technical office is assisted by external construction offices. The office compiles all engineering data as well as blueprints for our new building, conversions and repairs.
The development and project department are an expert partner from the idea to its finalization. We work with our clients in a close and trusting atmosphere to develop, plan, calculate and accompany their projects unbureaucratically and individually.

Peters Werft shipyard is conveniently located on the river Elbe, right between Hamburg and the North Sea - directly on the Stör, a branch of the Elbe.

The outfitting quay is fully equipped with all necessary infrastructure. Workshops and storage sheds with more than 2.000m² are within walking distances.
